Everyone wants to study well and be a star in the teacher's eyes, but it's hard for some people who can't keep up with their studies. As a pharm D student, I know that it can be hard cramming the drug names which is why I have compiled these tips for effective memorization and understanding of the study course. In this article we will review the best practices to follow to get a high score on exams, like reading books, using flash cards or writing notes, etc. We will also consider other ways that you can use to stay focused during your studying hours - whether you use them all or just one. This guide contains tips for self-testing practice on how to effectively study while not losing concentration.
Reading The Book
One of the most effective methods to learn new material is by reading it yourself. If you don't have time to read several chapters of an interesting book to completely understand it, try reading each section once. You'll immediately see if there are any gaps in your knowledge.
Organization of your study area:
Mental peace is extremely necessary for the betterment of your memorization and acknowledgment of the topic. The more organized and clean your area is, the more efficiency you will achieve in the work that you're doing. This can be achieved by freeing up the space around you, making your bed, and assembling your books and notes.
Make A Planning List:
Once you have cleaned up your environment, it's time to clean up your mind. Keep a separate notebook in which you write down your assignments and goals for the week. Take one step at a time and you will get there. Keep track of the time you have taken for the completion of a task.
Using Quizzes And Activities Instead Of Essentials
There's no need to be limited in your academic tasks by focusing solely on the important topics for tests. If you like doing quizzes or activities instead of studying textbooks, you'll increase your ability to focus and save valuable time. Try taking standardized questions as they are easy for everyone. Another idea is to complete long essays instead of
multiple-choice ones. With these tools, you have access to dozens of great options for making your own work. For example, take 5 minutes to start your essay with the topic sentence, so that you have more opportunities to develop your ideas. If you need help, use apps such as Grammarly to check grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation. Don’t forget to search for related terms if you aren't confident about a certain answer. Finally, you can learn from others' mistakes and use them in your life.
Using Flashcards
Flashcards or pre-prepared questions are one of the easiest ways to memorize information quickly and store it in short-term memory. Simply write down something you’re interested in using flash cards to enhance your understanding. It could include details of your favorite animal species, music genres, cities, or recipes. Create up to 60 cards per month and use them in conjunction with quizzes to boost your performance. Start with simple subjects and build upon what they teach you. When you encounter a problem in the future, you can go back to flashcards to solve it.
Revision Technique
Learning a new skill is only half the battle. Students must also revise what they already know and gain new skills. One of the greatest benefits of revision is that you can spend less time studying. Reviewing the past with open eyes is always more enjoyable than wasting time over analyzing what did not work. It also helps you remember the things that are important in the present. Revision is part of getting good grades and preparing for upcoming examinations.
Another tip is to revisit your lessons and understand new concepts. Take some time after each lesson to review your previous lectures and assignments. After completing weekly assignments, make a note of the question you didn’t know and what helped you solve it. Later, when trying the same concept again, you’ll notice how much your brain absorbs the content. Use flashcards, textbooks, or even notes and make the revision process fun. Once you finish the assignment or exam with the knowledge gained, feel free to add a few new concepts that can be revisited throughout the year.
The Benefits Of Using An Online Tutor
If you are an understudy or have limited experience with tutoring or mentoring students, going through your homework with someone else can greatly benefit you - be it an instructor or friend. While traditional tutors teach by following a strict format and set of rules, online instructors focus on creating and maintaining positive relationships. Some online tutors will allow additional revisions when needed, such as reviewing what you’ve learned in class. Many professional mentors, however, do everything by hand and are available 24/7. I, personally, think that we can find anything on YouTube and blogs nowadays. There are some great channels solely dedicated to teaching students that are hard for them to pick.
